Support Our IRC Welcome Basket Project
Our 8th grade students are partnering with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to create welcome baskets for refugees and asylum seekers who are newly arriving in San Diego.
These baskets will be given to individuals and families who are legally immigrating to our community and are meant to offer both practical support and a message of care and belonging.
Make a Donation
Your donation helps us purchase supplies for the welcome baskets. Any amount makes a difference, and participation is completely optional.
How Your Donation Helps
Funds collected through this page will be used to purchase:
Hygiene products (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc.)
Cleaning supplies
Baskets to hold donated items
All funds are managed by the High Tech Mesa Parent Association (PA), which will purchase supplies or gift cards on behalf of the project. This ensures that students and teachers are not responsible for handling money.
Why This Matters
Through this project, students are learning about:
Immigration and refugee experiences
Empathy, service, and civic responsibility
How communities can support people during times of transition
This work also helps students understand San Diego’s role as a border city and the importance of welcoming new community members with dignity and care.
Thank You for Your Support
We are grateful for your support in helping our students turn learning into meaningful action. Every contribution helps make this project possible.
